Cry Out

When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth he began to cry out and say” Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.” Mark 10:47

Blind Bartimaeus had spent many days on the road between Jericho and Jerusalem begging. He had no doubt heard stories about others receiving their sight from Jesus. There he sat, with his beggars’ robe wrapped tightly around his shoulders, hoping this would be the day. When he heard the noise of the crowd following Jesus; he began to cry out. His cry for help reached Jesus’ ears.

The first thing he did when Jesus called him was cast aside his beggars garment. He knew when he got the attention of Jesus, he wouldn’t need it any longer. He received his sight and followed Jesus. Are you sitting by the wayside, in a beggar’s garment, waiting for Jesus to pass your way? Wait no longer! He is passing your way right now. Begin to cry out. “Jesus, have mercy on me,” He is always ready to hear a sincere cry. Oft times, cares of life creep in and we find ourselves sitting by the roadside in a strange garment. Don’t despair, Jesus is passing your way.

What a great God we serve.
