What is it when you really know the fear of the Lord?

Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, and the perverted mouth, I hate.” Hate something, no way, but God does expect us to hate the things He hates. As we grow in loving and honoring God, there begins a seed of hate that begins to grow in us. The Hebrew word for hate is; to despise, to dislike something or someone, and to be hostile toward.

Psalms 11:5 “God hates those who do and love violence. Hosea 9:15/Amos 6:8 states that God hates and detests those who turn to evil and choose it instead of Him. Psalms 5:5 conveys to us that God hates all those who love evil. There are several things that God hates and here are the rest from Proverbs 8:13.

Pride God Hates – the root word for pride means to rise up, to lift up, and thus to exalt. The root of pride is when we choose to exalt self above God.

Arrogance God Hates – This mainly is “pride in action”. Pride shows us the attitude that a person has that is independent of God. Arrogance is when an individual acts upon that pride and lives life not honoring or pleasing God. Their thinking and thought life is above God.

The Evil Way God Hates – This means or refers to a life style...a way a person walks, talks, and lives their daily lives. The progression is, we go from attitude of Pride...to the acting out of the pride in arrogance...to many acts of arrogance where it becomes a daily lifestyle. God hates a lifestyle that doesn’t please Him...only ignores and dishonors Him.

The Perverted Mouth God Hates – This is a mouth or speech that is corrupt, deceptive, and doesn’t care about hurting or harming someone. Basically, distorted of what is right. When we have a prideful lifestyle, arrogant actions, and perverted

speech, we will try to justify it and try to get others to come along.
