Peace in Your Storm

When evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side,” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was early swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet be still.” Mark 4:35-40 (NKJ)

Storms could arise on the Sea of Galilee without warning; still do. Jesus was sleeping when this one arose. His disciples woke him up asking, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up spoke to the wind and told the waves to be still. The men were

amazed that even the elements obeyed him. That must have been quite a storm, Matthew, Mark and Luke all recorded it.

Has the evil one, without warning, brought a storm on your peaceful horizon? Things are going good; then all at once there he is with his bag of tricks. Never fear! Jesus is here! Call on the one who can speak to that storm. We never have to go through it alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to help with the storms of life surrounding us. So keep your heart in tune and your eyes on Jesus. He will speak peace to the wind and waves around you and your family.
