Is There Enough Evidence for a Conviction?
And now Israel, what does the lord your God require from you, but to Fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good? Deuteronomy 10:12-13
Our claim as being a Christiana can be summed up with five verbs: FEAR, WALK, LOVE, SERVE, and KEEP. The FEAR of the Lord is to know and realize His great power and the circumstances that follow our decisions. To WALK is to live your faith by righteous living. To LOVE the Lord is to surrender your worship and obedience to the One True God.
Love is an action word that demands more than just words from our mouth. One cannot love with the doing. Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. 1 John 3:18. In other words, your LOVE and SERVICE to the Lord will be manifested with deeds/works toward God and others, this is called service.
When we keep His commandments and statues it is for our good or benefit, this is a promise from God. God’s love is overwhelming to me, He looked beyond my many faults and still loves me. How can I not love Him in return? I ask Him for more of Him that I might show love to others. God’s laws, the ten commandments were written by God for our good and the laws of America were copied from these statues, which will keep us right in the sight of God.
To be called a Christian (Christ like) you must believe and follow 5 fundamental beliefs which are:
Believe in the deity of God the Father, Jesus the Son of God and the Holy Spirit as the Trinity or Godhead.
Believe in Jesus and His virgin birth.
Believe Jesus came to earth to be our Savior
Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus as an
atonement for our sins.
Believe Jesus as King of Kings is returning back to earth
for His bride.
To just have head knowledge is not enough, you must have application of the heart. I want to possess enough evidence of a Christ-like Spirit living inside me.
