The Sanctuary

A place of refuge - This is the meaning of Sanctuary, this is what our church is named after. A safe place, a place were people that are broken can be restored. A place were they can feel the love of God through us. Being a Christian is just that, being Christ like. When people are hurting they need someone to reach out in love with compassion. I am so thankful that our church is just that a place of refuge. So many people are hurting whether it be from a loss of a loved one, a bitter divorce, or a bad decision they made that has plagued them. Most people hide it, some try to self-medicate, but that never fixes the issue. When they come to a place were they can’t make it. I have so much compassion for people that are hurting. I see it in their eyes, a emptiness , a loneliness, and they are reaching out for help, but don’t want to show it. They are searching for God, because he is the only one who can reach in and heal their hearts, he is the only one who can fix their problems that have grown far too big for them to handle. God in most cases has already started a work in them. God draws all men and women unto him. Revival is for the hurting, it is for the lost. God pours out his spirit for the ones that are lost. The Church is blessed and everyone in the Church is blessed, but a outpouring is for people that need a touch from the almighty. God is preparing His church for just that, he wants for us to come to a place of selflessness. When we are more worried about the needs of others than ourselves. That is when God can truly work through us. I am so happy to be a part of a church that has come to that place. I am excited about what God is going to let us do for His Kingdom.

“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”

1 Peter 3:8-9 NIV

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Philippians 2:1-4 NIV
