Trust in Me

July 28, 2017

I was trying to get my mother-in-law to write a devotion. I have been bugging her for a while but she still refuses so I guess I will just write what I hear her “preach” about during the day. Many of you know she is facing a battle. She has a brain tumor on her brain that is growing. It is affecting her left side motor abilities. She was sitting in a recliner in our home waiting for additional tests before she could have surgery to remove the tumor when I asked her this last time what she wanted to write about. She started singing an old song. “This is what has been on my mind lately,” she said.

How great is our God, How great is His name How great is our God, Forever the same
He rolled back the waters
Of the mighty Red Sea

And He said, “I’ll never leave you, put your trust in Me.”

By the time you read this devotion she possibly will have already had her surgery. As a family, we are standing on God’s promises. We don’t know what the future holds but we know who holds the future in His hand. After singing the song, Linda began to quote scripture, This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1 John 5:14

Then she pointed her finger at us and said, “Let me tell ya what’s going to get us.” We ask amiss she said (James 4:3).

We let things in our lives that shouldn’t be there, greed, bitterness, disappointment. But we can change the mind of God with our righteous living. Then we had to look up the scripture about Hezekiah.

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’” Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed the Lord, and said, “Remember now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before you in truth and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying, “Go and say to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of your father David, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.’”
Isaiah 38:1-3

Whatever comes, we face it in God’s loving arms. He is a great God and forever the same.

He rolled back the waters, of the mighty Red Sea.
And He said, “I’ll never leave you, put your trust in Me.”
