Touching the Hard Places

August 16, 2017

Something that has really been soaking into my spirit lately is how the Lord longs to touch our pain. It seems so simple but it's really so profound to me. It's as if I really had not understood or been awakened to His rich compassion. How He, the Lord, in all His majesty longs to touch the hard places.

He longs to touch the places we try to hide, the places we are ashamed of. Memories that haunt us of things we wished we had done differently. Places of Sadness or anxiety. Worries of the future, failures, lost hopes, sickness, depression, things we just don't understand.

Our perfect Savior longs to come with his wave of mercy and peace, and touch you. To stand in those moments of fear, weariness, heavy laden and in need of refreshing. He longs to stand there, and quietly whisper, "Come to me." In a way a good father only can, that beckoning call of love calls to us. A gentle nudge to stop toiling away at what we could never make sense of, never repair or make whole. And simply, come. Open the door, and hand it all to the savior.

So often we pray for Him to meet us, we beg for his presence and fail to realize he stands at the door. If you will sit and quietly wait you'll hear the sweet voice of peace. You'll feel the touch of the master and as you let go of what you never really could control. Hand it over to Jesus, and watch Him take the burden and carry you through the hard things, you'll find rest. Rest that only comes sleeping in a boat during the storm with the savior on board.

It's an incredible thing to get a hold of that kind of love. How the Father loves us is something to marvel at. I cannot help but pour out praise for a savior such as the one I have. The mender of the soul who makes all things new. What a savior we have in Jesus.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
