Today Trust the Father at His Word

John 4:46 “Therefore He came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick in Capernaum. ‘Sir’, said the man, come down before my child dies.”

Jesus had a schedule to keep from eternity past, but Jesus had time for this man and his son. He sure didn’t neglect the man’s broken heart and the crisis he was facing. He gave him a child- like simple promise: “You may go. Your son will live.” (vs. 50 NIV)

What would you have done at this moment? The Lord Jesus sent the man home with nothing more than seven syllables. Jesus didn’t offer to go with the father....just a promise. John 4:50 gives one of the best definitions of faith in the Bible when it says, “The man took Jesus at His word and departed.” (NIV) As the story continues, while he was on his way, his servant’s met him with the news that his boy was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son had gotten better, they said to him, “The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour. The man realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, your son will live.”

This government official trusted the words that our Savior, Jesus Christ spoke. Even today He is speaking to you in a similar situation. Take Him at His word! Go, your situation is covered and taken care of!

“Cast your cares on the Lord!” Psalm 55:22/I Peter 5:7
