God Wants to Reveal Himself...but Hide and Seek is His Game

In the world there are 2000 or more cactus that have many different shapes and of various sizes. But probably the most valuable to man is the barrel cactus. This is a stubby, dome- shaped plant, growing from a foot to three or four feet in height. Inside this cactus is a juicy pulp which many times has saved the life of a traveler crossing the desert. The pulp, when pressed out, yields from a quart to a gallon of slightly bitter water.

Knowing the value of this strange prickly looking cactus, the contents bring life to those who find it similar to God’s word. Such as in the world of cactus, also in the world of books, the Bible can be just another book or it can hide the most precious resources known to man. Let’s check out a few verses which will help us to discover a few things about God.

  • Matthew 13:11 – Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted.”

  • I Corinthians 2:10 – But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

  • Colossians 1:27 – To whom God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

  • Matthew 16:17 – Simon Peter answered, you are the Christ, the son of the living God. And Jesus said to him, Blessed are you Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

God’s word has 1,189 chapters, 783,137 words and 3,116,480 letters. Our heavenly Father has supplied for us a fountain of life in Jesus Christ. It is a privilege of every follower of Jesus to drink of those waters. Many perish because they know not God’s plan of salvation or of eternal life. You and I must tell them of the fountain that never goes dry and of the Master who said, “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.” **Ask yourself, what did I discover today about God and His word? **Ask yourself, what is God teaching me today about him and me?
