God's Special Harvest

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10

We have completed our children’s lessons on “Growing Up in Christ”. As I am writing this devotion, we are planning the Fall Family Festival for the church. Our theme is God’s Special Harvest. By the time you read this devotion, the festival will be over. I certainly hope you were able to attend and had a good time! Our prayer for the fall festival was to bring to everyone’s attention (especially the children), how special they are to God and that they are appointed a special purpose.

In the “Grow Up” series we spent a lot of time studying what we needed to do to, grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 Peter 3:18. One thing I felt was missing and I added the last week of the series is to understand that we are God’s special harvest. He made us specifically for an intended purpose. We have been selected and appointed to the purpose He has just for us.

On this Halloween holiday, the children enjoy dressing up as someone else, a princess, a firefighter, a cowboy or even Minnie Mouse! It is fun for them to pretend and dream. What God has for us to do is not a dream but an assignment. Just like David and Esther, we are selected for a specially designed plan. A plan from God for His purpose and mission.

Even though God’s grace is undeserved, we each have a story to tell and tell it we must! We must be about our Father’s business. God will prepare us for His plan if we will be faithful. Don’t try to be something you aren’t. Be exactly what God intended for you to be.

And sow fields and plant vineyards, and gather a fruitful harvest. Psalm 107:37
