Around the Next Bend

Traveling in the mountains is exciting and full of surprises. When going around a bend in the road or trail, there is a new view to enjoy. Each panorama is filled with never-ending peaks, valleys, gorges and plateaus. I don’t want to miss any of the awesome mountain features, so I try to take in all the grandeur of the current snapshot around me. Each view is just a glimpse of the whole mountain range.

I find the same is true of God, just when I think I understand His many attributes, I go around a bend in life and see a whole new dimension of Him. It may be His grace for my stupidity or His goodness to me when I’ve been haughty. I’ve seen His kindness to someone I looked down on.

As I travel through this Christian life, I constantly learn more about God and His love for me and others. It is apparent I only have a few glimpses of God.

The totality of God is beyond my understanding.

“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast” (Psalm 36:5-6 NIV).
