The Christmas season has officially started in Branson and I love everything about it. I love the lights, trees, my children’s smiles, and the list goes on. When I sit and think about Christmas I can’t help but be thankful and in awe of Mary’s faithfulness. I could not imagine how she felt when the Angel sent from God appeared and told her she would conceive and give birth to Jesus. In Luke 1:26-38 you see The Birth of Jesus foretold and you see Mary’s faithfulness.
I am the Lord’s servant, Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Luke 1:38
As I read that verse two questions came to mind.
1) Would I have been faithful?
2) Does God ask me to do simple things and I ignore him
because I am not listening or preoccupied with the things of the world?
Mary was willing to be criticized and persecuted to fulfill her purpose. What are we willing to do so we can fulfill God’s purpose for our life? I don’t know about you but her faithfulness challenges me. As you celebrate Christmas remember the true reason for the season and take time to read the Christmas story.
