Attitude is Everything

Only conduct yourselves in a manner

worthy of the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27 (NASB)

We have often heard it said, “Attitude is everything”. I agree. Our

attitude is directly related to our thoughts. Our attitude is a mental

position or feeling toward something. Billy Graham said, “It is not

the body’s posture, but the heart’s attitude that counts when we

pray.” God sees our heart. Our intentions may be lost or hidden

from others but not from God.

In the book of Joel, Judah is warned that they must repent or be

destroyed. The people were to lament and the priest to call a fast.

Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and

all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry

out to the Lord, Joel 1:14 (NIV). There was an expectation of

change and a cry out to the Lord. When we fast and cry out to God

our attitude changes.

When we check our attitudes at God’s door we can live according to

Philippians 4:8 ((KJV), Finally brethren whatsoever things are of

good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think

on these things. Allow your attitude to change by keeping your

thoughts and heart on God. “Think on these things”
