Fix Your Eyes: Should You or Should You Not?

God created us with two ears, two eyes and one mouth. We obviously do most of our seeing through our eyes, we have two of them! And we do a lot of our hearing with our ears because we also have two of them!! But...what happens when what we hear and what we see doesn’t align with God’s Perfect Word?

Walk by faith not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Read: Hebrews 12:1-3 and Matthew 14:22-32

(vs 26) when the disciples saw...they were terrified..they said Jesus was a ghost and cried out in fear. They didn’t hear they automatically saw, said, and cried. (vs 29) when Jesus said “come”, Peter didn’t look around...he didn’t open his mouth...he “did”. He got out of the boat, walked on water and WENT TOWARD JESUS.

(vs 30)BUT...when Peter SAW the wind, he was afraid , began to sink, and CRIED out. (vs 31)In these situations Jesus asks us, “you of little faith. Why did you doubt?”

(Hebrews 12)LET US RUN with perseverance the race marked out for us, FIXING OUR EYES ON JESUS.

Why live by Faith and How? Peter was confident when Christ told him to “come”. He was secure because his eyes were fixed on Jesus...The Perfector of our faith. It was only when Peter took his eyes off Jesus when

he saw the wind, doubted and cried out in fear did he begin to sink. Wind blows. You feel it and see the affects of it but we don’t see it.

Wind-Greek-anemos-tempestuous Tempestuous-English= characterized by a strong and turbulent of conflicting emotion.

Fix your eyes on Jesus.
