Closer to God

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works. Psalm 73:28

At the tender age of 6 (on May 25th), my granddaughter is very sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit. I have seen first-hand her commitment to Jesus Christ. She loves reading stories from the Bible. She works diligently every week to memorize scripture and she is quick to share her faith. To her, the nearness of God is “her” good. She understands very simply that God will provide and protect. She tells of God’s work in her life without hesitation. Life is difficult for sure, but the answer to the difficulty is simple: nearness to God.

Kenlee is very observant and she asks a multitude of questions when we are busy with our “work”. She recently was by my side for over an hour, “helping” me with the devotion book. She asked what a devotion was, so I went searching for an answer. With the help of the internet, here is what I told her: A devotional is something written by an author in order to help others focus on God. I asked her if she wanted to write a devotion and below is what she asked me to write down for her:

Don’t forget to praise God only. Pray to Him and fast. We need to spend more time with Him. It is good to fast. I am going to fast next week because I want to give more to God. I want to get closer to God.

Don’t forget to tell people that don’t know God that He is alive.

By Kenlee Scott

I am not sure there is anything to add to that short devotional. Do you desire to “get closer to God?” It is simple, pray, fast and tell others He is alive!
