Time to Move ON

Larry and I went hiking in the mountains, close to Cooke City, Montana, at about 8,000 feet elevation. Along the side of the trail, we came across the site of an abandoned gold mine. An old log cabin, the remains of two dilapidated buildings, an old rusty car, the rusty rock crusher and a loading hopper gave evidence of past human occupation. A small stream bubbled down the mountain.

As we wandered around the site, we speculated on the men who had worked here, what happened to them, the operations of the mine, and the possibility that gold could still be in the ground

With cleaning and oiling, the rock crusher and loading hopper would work. Water was still available in the stream. The log cabin remained livable. And gold, possibly, remained underground. But for whatever reason, the men who had worked there moved on elsewhere.

There are times when God calls us to move on from a residence location, employment, position in a church, etc. Following His guidance is not always easy because of friends, relatives, prestige, finances, and other considerations. Remembering that He knows the overall picture and has our best interests in mind helps us make the correct decision. After all, we are working for Him.
