Commit Your Concerns

June 19, 2018

The Lord has been teaching me lately in the version of a question. When my mind begins to race and I consider things I have no control over, things that concern me, I hear His voice. “Have I called you to worry, or commanded you to pray?”

That changes everything.

What more could I do? What act would be greater? Even if the things concerning me were in my power to change, who has more wisdom on what should be done? Jesus, or myself? Who has all power, all knowledge, all authority? Who knows all the answers, how things should play out, what move would be best? Jesus. How do I gain insight? Pray. How do I shift things supernatural as a human being? Pray.

It is the most powerful thing I can do, not a last resort. We’ve had our wires crossed to say, “all I can do is pray.” It should be the very first thing done, and I’m speaking to myself here.

At the first crisis, fear, sickness, hurt, impossibility. Pray. It’s not small, it’s earth shattering. You have the audience of a Holy, Mighty God who is in control of all and He cares for you. He is for you, but to get His answers, to hook up to that resource, you’ll have to talk to him. Then, you’ll need to listen.

If you will lay out your concern and wait for His voice, He will speak peace to you. A moment in his presence, at one word you are changed. He can speak peace to the most violent storm. At one word, he can speak life, healing and hope. He can curse death, tear down depression and destroy hopelessness. He has conquered the thing conferring you so let the Master speak to it.

Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people…

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
