Breaking Free: Following God's Plan
2 Thessalonian 3:16 reads “Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.”
I was reading a devotional on breaking free by Beth Moore when I read, “You see, God’s way is the right way. And the only peaceful way in a chaotic world.” As humans we don’t always listen to God’s plans for our lives. Some of us require Him tell us numbers of times what His plans are.
I was one of those people. When I was in High School, I was taking a religious class through Girl Scouts and started to sense God’s presence. The problem was at the time I was going to a church that didn’t talk about having a relationship with God or hearing God’s voice, much less that God had a plan for our lives. So I didn’t realize that I was feeling God and that he was telling me that I was to be a pastor.
I was trapped in the world and what everyone around me thought, but God knew one day I would be ready for His message, so He did what He could to prepare me for that day. I wasn’t following God’s plan for my life, so I wasn’t finding pure joy in what I was doing. I also wasn’t finding a job in what I was trying to do, until I changed. I started going to the Sanctuary of Hope and learning all these things I never knew before. We can have a relationship with God, God wants to talk with us, He has a plan for our lives, and wants to use us for the glory of His Kingdom.
I remember the night He called me to serve as a pastor. The week before I had asked Him for guidance and to tell me how He wanted to use me. That night I sat in church as Pastor Sam brought all of the pastors up front to the stage I felt a fire building in my stomach and I heard two words very clearly in my head. Those words were “Youth Ministry.” Ever since I have changed things around and started the process of becoming a youth pastor, I have found pure joy in what I do.
Are you following God’s plan for you? If not what is holding you back? Let God help you break free from what is holding you back from His plan.
