To Worship You I live

I was spending some time in worship and listening to a song just basking in the presence of the Lord. The words of the song are simple, “To worship you I live, to worship you I live, I live to worship you…”.

I kept thinking how true this is, and how it was the cry of my heart just to be in continual worship. It was about then I heard a gentle voice from the Lord sweetly say, “If that was really true, of you truly lived to worship me your circumstances wouldn't change your worship. Your feelings wouldn't change your worship. Fatigue, frustration, times when you don't understand, times when you're in need, nothing in your environment would change your worship.”

I have to say the correction came with such gentleness that it broke my heart. Because after all, what is our environment or circumstance in comparison with the Master? The harsh reality of my skewed view point on worship also hit me. What is my focus? What is the purpose, or rather WHO is the focus of worship? I'd lost complete sight of the reason for worship. Yes, worship changes us, yes it refreshes us, and those are all good and needed things. But the true point is to GIVE OUR worship TO HIM.

I really had made it so selfish. How do I feel? What did I get out of this? These are the things I'm facing… and so on. I lost sight of my purpose before the Lord and made what is to be unto Him, about me. I've never felt a sweeter rebuke in my life. I didn't feel condemned I felt, awakened. My focus has shifted, thus my purpose has changed. We live to worship Him.

John 4:23 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

The time has come where we do know our Savior, and He wants it all. I've asked the Lord to help me surrender my Spirit and worship knowing my purpose and keeping my focus stayed in Him. For He is worthy of it all.
