Servants

What does it mean to serve?

Serve in Latin is servo originally meant slave. A servant is one who attends or waits upon someone else. We choose to be a servant.

John 12:26 - "If anyone of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you'll be where I am ready to serve at a moment's notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me."

Life has its various demands, what do we do with ambition. Ambition is a strong desire to gain a particular objective, striving for placement, advancement, wealth, or fame. Sometimes ambition tries to accomplish God's will through strength, talent, and gifting of man, but the motive is about self, and not about Jesus.

What Jesus said about servant hood. Luke 22:24-30

The disciples argued about greatness and Jesus said greatness was all about who would serve; He said, "Let the leader act the part of the servant." v.26

The servants heart.

The servant's heart requires you to take up the cross and follow Jesus.

The servant's heart is motivated by love.

The servant's heart works through distractions and offenses.

The servant's heart is bold with humility.

The servant's heart has a sense of responsibility.

The servant's heart is empathic.

Questions:

  1. Share a recent testimony of serving someone else and how it made you feel.

  2. Are you always ready to serve at a moments notice.

  3. Has ambition ever clouded your way to serve?
