But God
I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us. Isaiah 63:7 (NIV)
I think the anthem that rings the loudest in our church family is the words, “But God”. We are all a witness to a time when God intervened on our behalf. When things looked hopeless and God stepped in. When we couldn’t understand or see what was ahead God revealed it to us. Let’s never lose our anthem song, “But God”. For God is all in all, He is the great I AM, He is our provider and deliverer. He is our salvation and hope. By Him and through Him come all good things in our life. Praise Him for He is greatly to be praised. Worship Him with all honor and glory, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Your Father.
Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9 (NASB)
There are occasions in our life when the river seems too wide to cross, there are occasions when others fail us and hurt us. There are occasions in life when things are beyond our abilities and no one wants to help, “But God”.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 (NAB)
We know in our minds that God is there for us. We have been taught and believe He loves us and will fight for us. The problem is, we don’t always live this way. We lose heart and sink into despair, we are often found worrying and fretting and our words do not indicate one ounce of faith. “But God”. We need only to say those words to ourselves to bring us back to the reality of God’s love and strength. We need only to stay in God’s Word to be reminded He is steadfast and unchanging. He is the God of all comfort. We need only to run into His presence to have His love work in us through the Holy Spirit. Run to Him today.
But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. Psalm 85:15 (NASB)
