When I was young (7 years old) I was asked if I wanted to be baptized. I didn’t really understand the significance of it, but to me it meant I could play in the creek that ran in back of the Church. As I recall, the water was cold and I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted.
Years later when I was 27 years of age, I came to k now the Lord in a personal way. After learning the significance of being baptized, I wanted to be baptized and was baptized. In later years I had the privilege of being baptized in the Jordan River in Israel.
Being baptized is not something we do just because we joined the church. The scriptures says, repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38). Mark 16:16 says, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. There are many scriptures telling us to believe and be baptized.
Jesus being our example was baptized by John (Matthew 3:13-15). If Jesus felt the need to be baptized, should we not feel and desire to do the same?
