Replace Negative Talk

I was driving down the road the other day and something on the radio struck me. I began reflecting on the statement. We need to replace our negative talk with praising The Lord. I really started reflecting on what would be considered negative talk. My list included negative self-talk, gossip, negative comments, inappropriate or vulgar comments, etc. The scripture that came to mind was Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

We are called to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable. What does negative talk do to our spiritual walk? I was always told whatever I meditate on will show on the outside, so if I meditate or use negative talk I will display negative actions on the outside and look much like the world.

If I am Praising The Lord and thinking on truth, right, pure, lovely, and admirable things I display actions that will encourage others to follow The Lord or at least want to know what is different about me than the world.

I encourage you to reflect on your actions and thoughts daily. Pastor Sam challenged and encouraged us to be a generational changer but we first have to change our own thoughts and own our actions if they do not reflect The Word of God. Be different and bring a positive spirit with you everywhere you go and change a generation.
