Steadfast

Steadfast defined: “resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.”

During a time in my life I felt a lot of uncertainty as to where the Lord was leading me. I had the thought of “stepping back” and taking time to seek where the Lord really wanted me. This is something many of us often think about in our lives. However, I believe the Lord has something else for us.

A faithful spirit-filled friend knew of my apprehension, but did not know I was wanting to step back or more bluntly, quit. The Lord used her to speak a word to me. She sweetly said, “don’t quit. You need to just be faithful and stay while you seek the direction of the Lord.” Honestly, that was not what I wanted to hear, ha! However, I obeyed and found that the reason I wanted to quit was because the situation I faced was much larger than me and I was way underqualified. I had to really rely on the Lord and his Spirit, which is EXACTLY what the Lord was wanting!

You see if I had “stepped back” then the blessing of spiritual growth and maturing of my faith would have never occurred. God needed me to just stay or to be steadfast, trusting in Him alone. On the other side of the uncertainty I can clearly see that the Lord was wanting to bless me. He was wanting to bless me in order for me to bless others. Only the Lord can take someone way underqualified that is willing to be steadfast trusting in Him and mold them into His perfect plan of blessing His people.

For he will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever. He will not fear evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Psalms 112:7
