True Surrender

What shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:26

Nothing is worth losing our soul and spending eternity in hell. Yet, on a daily basis, we struggle to take up our cross. We often take it up but can be quick to lay it down again. Mark 8:34 says, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. The cross of Christ symbolizes suffering, death and shame. It means ridicule, rejection and self-denial. None of which is easy to do.

When we begin our Christian walk, we begin a lifelong battle against sin. It is war. Satan and his demonic host will try to bring all the powers of darkness against you. War is waged when we separate ourselves morally and spiritually from the world. It takes true surrender and faith in God’s protection to stand.

True surrender to Christ is yielding to His power not your own. True surrender is giving up completely “your way” and yielding to His Will. When you truly surrender, you stop fighting to make things happen and let God direct your path. To the world, surrender means defeat but with God, true surrender is life everlasting.

For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. Mark 8:35

True Surrender = Trust and A Close Relationship with Christ

Trust Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

A Close Relationship with Christ Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8
