Disappointment

There will be times in your walk with Christ where you are going to have to navigate through disappointment.

Life has pain and rejection and hurt. In church, in your family at work. And you have to be careful not to be overcome and let it rule your life, you close people off because you have a defensive reaction. The ugly truth of the matter is whatever happened now has control of your life.

You do not trust . You now have unforgiveness, bitterness and a great number of people who go to church they’re not even really free. Whoever the Son sets free is free indeed, they’re not really free because they haven’t been able to react properly to the disappointments and hurt that we all get along the way. That’s the thing about Christianity that we don’t often talk about.

With all the promises that we have in the Bible:

  • The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want,

  • I will never leave you nor for sake you,

  • I know the plans that I have for you.

Mixed in with all of “The Promises” is our moments of life: pain, rejection, let down, disappointment, a stab in the back and heartache.  Instead of doing what we should with it. We hold it, and it affects us in a negative way.

You say Benaiah, I am a Christian, I should not have to deal with this now. Well the Word of God gives us an apostle who in His final letter to Timothy shares from His heart. And this goes against all the fake name it claim it, grab it stab it doctrine that has crippled a great deal of the Church in America. Some when they do not get their wish think that they are doing it wrong or even walk away from God all together. This breaks my heart

But Paul who healed the sick, was a part of the growth of the first Church, and a mighty Evangelist had to deal with Life. In the end of the chapter he gives us the most powerful example of what really happens. The Lord will strengthen us when we don’t have any fight left He is there to push us on. When everyone leaves us, He is always there. Never forget church Life will happen, hardships will come but never lose Hope because He never walks away from our messes.

“Make every effort to come to me soon; for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Pick up Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for service. But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. When you come bring the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments. Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our teaching. At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.  But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
