Rain! Rain! Rain!

I grew up singing those old songs about rain. Send us the rain Lord, send us the rain Lord, send us the latter rain. The song went on to say, “there is power in the rain Lord.” I was reading in God’s Word and came across the scripture in 1 Kings 18 verse 41, “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.”

Can’t you hear it? Everyday God is giving The Sanctuary of Hope the forecast of rain. When Elijah told Ahab to get up, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Elijah put his face between his knees and prayed again. Still no cloud. He sent his servant to check again. No cloud. Seven times he had to look before he saw a cloud. He didn’t give up. He continued to pray.

What started as a cloud the size of a man’s hand, ended up in a dark cloud thundering with an abundance of rain! All because someone continued to pray!

Send us the rain Lord. Open up the windows of Heaven and let it pour. I know it might be hard for most of us to get our face between our knees, Jbut you get the picture. Keep praying and God will send the rain!
