Lost Sheet

3 So He told them this parable, saying, 4 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

Luke 15:3-7

A few weeks ago we were spending the day with family at Silver Dollar City and my precious four-year-old son wandered away. He was lost for about 45 minutes, during his absence, all we could do was call out to The Lord. We prayed he would be returned safely to us without being harmed. He was found safe and we quickly began Praising the Lord. When we returned home that afternoon, Brandon and I began to reflect on the experience. As the week went on I reflected a few mornings during my quiet time with The Lord. One morning I was reading The Parable of the Lost Sheep (see scripture above) and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I pictured Brandon carrying Corbin and us rejoicing and celebrating with the many families who dropped everything to help find him. I read Luke 15:3-7 over and over and The Holy Spirit continued to reveal the same thing over and over again. Just as you were distraught and upset because your son went astray and was lost, The Lord feels that pain but much deeper when his children are astray and lost but when the child is found the rejoicing is so much greater than what I experienced. We are called to find the lost and carrying them on our shoulders and rejoice when they come home.
