Slow Fade

Pastor Brandon and I were gone on vacation and work for the past couple of weeks, but I loved how God used our time away to speak to us in various ways. We were in San Antonio, Texas, for a school conference, during the weekend, we drove out to my home town in West Texas to see my grandparents, who recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. As we were driving the scenery slowly changed during the five-hour drive. We started in the beautiful Hill Country with trees and wildflowers. As we went along I-10 the scenery changed to just trees, and slowly we started seeing less trees and more pump jacks. The further west we drove the more desolate and ugly the scenery got, and my children even commented on being in the desert.

The song from Casting Crowns came to mind, and I began to think about the lyrics. When we fall into sin, it doesn’t happen overnight, but we slowly fade due to slipping from God. In John 10:10, it talks about the “thief coming to kill, steal, and destroy”. In 2 Corinthians 11:3, “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ”.

Satan will use our weaknesses to start the slow fading into sin process. We must put on the Armor of God every day and press into His Word. Read the words of Slow Fade from Casting Crowns and start protecting yourself from the schemes of the devil.
