Satisfaction Guaranteed

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8

We recently returned from a wonderful vacation to Disney World. Our grandchildren Kenlee and Corbin were extremely excited. We spent several months planning our trip and dreaming about the fun adventures that lay ahead for us! We were set for two weeks of fun, swimming, character greetings and lots and lots of roller coasters! The trip was everything and more that we had dreamed about. The kids had a blast, it truly is a magical place.

We were certainly satisfied with our accommodations and the adventures that came with our park tickets. We enjoyed seeing the smiles on the faces of our grandchildren and spending time together as a family. The funny part is that as soon as we started home, we all began talking about when we would return and where we would go for our vacation next year.

As a society, our satisfaction is short lived. As teenagers, all we wanted was to become an adult. As adults, all we want is to get married. Once we are married we begin to think about having kids. It seems as if we are never satisfied. Contentment alludes us at every turn. Why? Because there is nothing on earth that can satisfy that void in our heart. The place that only God dwells.

It is only when we are communing with the Father that we are truly satisfied. Worship, prayer, Bible study and church attendance are guaranteed satisfaction to our soul. Nothing satisfies like Jesus.

Give me Jesus (Give me Jesus,)

Give me Jesus, (Give me Jesus,)

Take the world, but give me Jesus,

To satisfy with ev’ry blessing,

His love and peace my soul possessing;

To all beside, my heart replies:

There’s naught but Jesus satisfies!

Life today may not be completely satisfying. Life sends many bumps in the road. But there is nothing more satisfying than resting in the salvation of the Lord. Rest in Him today.

For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.

Psalm 107:9
