Only God Can Provide

September 19, 2019

The major cause of stress in our life is worry. We worry because we wonder if we will have what we need when we need it. But anytime we expect other people to meet our needs instead of God, we’re going to be frustrated and disappointed, because nobody can meet all our needs. Only God can do that.

If we want a cure for stress, we need to learn to look to God to meet our needs.

Some of us find our security in our job, and when we lose our job, we lose our peace of mind.

Others of us put our security in our marriage. Then our spouse dies or we go through a divorce, and we ask, “Who am I? What is my identity?”

Or maybe we put our security in our money. There are a lot of ways to lose money.

I recommend that we never put our security in anything that can be taken away from us. We can lose our job, our health, our reputation, our spouse, and our mind. But we cannot lose our relationship to Christ.

When we put our security in that promise, we can trust God to meet all our needs.

Romans 8:32 says, “Since he did not spare even his own Son for us but gave him up for us all, won’t he also surely give us everything else?”.

If God loved us enough to send Jesus Christ to die on the cross, don’t you think he loves us enough to take care of every other need in our life? Yes! Of course, he does.

Every time we start to get stressed out, pause and say, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).

God’s going to provide. He’s going to take care of us. Instead of stressing out, look to him to meet all our needs.

My Challenge for us today is to CHOOSE only God as our provider!
