At His Feet

I love the story in Luke 10 about Mary sitting at Jesus’ Feet.

Luke 10 38-42

Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

How many times in our lives are we concerned with the little things that we have to do that we skip or overlook the most important. Spending time with our Heavenly Father is something he says can never be taken away from us. That intimate moment when we have conversations with him will lead to so many wonderful things in our life.

All the little things we feel like we HAVE to do only piles up and causes us more stress. Because we all know we never accomplish all of our little to-do list items. I recently had our youth group right down their daily schedule in pretty good detail so we could look and examine where some times they can put time with God in thei daily lives. As he tells Martha that is the “Good Part” of our day and I bet if we start making more time for that our days will be much happier and fulfilling.
