The Cup
Today as I was getting my morning coffee, I was looking for my favorite cup. It was a gift to me and holds the perfect amount of coffee probably about 32 oz. I know that is a lot but it is just what I need to get going. It is a metal one with my favorite baseball team on it, the St. Louis Cardinals. But as I was looking for it knowing just the one I wanted. I thought many prayers are like this knowing just what we want, the one that would be perfect for us. And I often get frustrated when I can’t find it, just like some of my prayers. But what if God has another cup for me...
Am I fighting to find what I want, growing impatient, and growing frustrated? What if the cup that God has for me is within reach but I can’t see it because I am busy looking for my perfect cup? I know that He has a perfect one for me. Although it might not be just what I want, it might be just what He put me on this earth for. God has a plan and a calling for each and every one of us. And when we find the Cup He has just for us, He begins to fill it with His anointing. So that it can only be poured out, it is not for us, it is for Him.
“Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
