Get Specific

How many times in our life do we get in a hurry? If you’re like me I look for every way to cut a few minutes of time out of a situation so I can move on to the next task for the day.

This even sometimes creeps into prayer life and how we talk to God. What I mean is that we begin to get generic and group things together. We say things like thank you Lord for our Blessings or heal the sick in our families and friends. But if we look at Psalms 66:16 the back end of the verse talks about telling what he has done.

Come and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell of what He has done for my soul.

It doesn’t say to just say thanks for everything and move on, but rather spend some time on it. If you don’t already I would recommend a blessings and prayers journal. Nothing special, just somewhere you can write down individual prayers and needs, and individual blessing in your life. This gives us a chance to put more details on it. As Pastor Sam says, it’s not like we are telling him anything he doesn’t already know. However, he does appreciate the fact that we take the time to individualize it and recognize each blessing and need as its own miracle in our life. So, as you continue to grow and move forward in your prayer life, regardless of the stage you are at with it, make a push to get more specific with God for even the little blessings and/or needs you may have.
