In Montana, the summer of 2003, Larry started building a large garage/workshop for our use. He knew how much money we had saved for this project and was very careful to watch the expenses. In the middle of the project, construction prices took a drastic increase.
Larry pondered, “What is the right thing to do? Should I stop the construction and wait to see if the prices will come down? Is the answer to cut expenses in other areas and go ahead with the garage?”
As we prayed, we both believed that God wanted us to go ahead with the garage, so Larry did. It was a great addition to our property and he enjoyed using it while we lived there.
It is easy to worry, fret, and fume about our finances, but actually that doesn’t accomplish anything except to cause more fear, doubt, and unrest in our life.
God has promised to provide for His children. Period. It doesn’t matter about our nation’s economic situation.
Trusting God while seeking His guidance brings peace in the midst of spiraling prices, whether in 2003 or 2019.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
