A New Year, A New You

As we leap into a new year it is a time to reflect and think about what the past year has brought and what the new year could bring. Some feel a sense of excitement and renewal in looking forward to the coming year. Others feel like life is spinning out of control, wondering where the year went. Some feel lost without a clear purpose in life something to be or do that makes sense of everything. Most look at the new year as a fresh beginning, as an opportunity to kind of start over, to overcome a habit, or do a better job of something they see as important and that needs improvement.

Regardless of how you feel about the New Year, you can be assured that God has a plan for you in it. So what a perfect opportunity to drop grudges, forgive, ask to be forgiven, and begin anew. Ask yourself, "Who am I, what am I doing with my life? What should I be doing as a Christian with my life and the discipleship God has given me?"

Commit to God in this coming year to accept His vision for your life so that you may bring glory to Him. Prepare yourself to receive His vision by asking Him to show you His plan for your life. Seek the Holy Spirit's help to overcome the criticism, impatience, and spiritual attacks you may encounter as you follow God's will. And as you wait for greater responsibility in God's kingdom, continue to be faithful in the smaller tasks you already have.

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way." - Isaiah 43:18-19
