Killing Your Giant (Part 3)

“When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David. Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.”

1 Samuel 17:48-51 ESV

3.Be committed

This is very important. Be committed to your success. I think the easiest way to say it is, if you are not committed, then no one else will be able to help you. Commitment is hard but it is something you have to do.

“Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day."”

1 Kings 8:61 NASB

“Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.”

Psalms 37:4-5 NASB

“All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, But the LORD weighs the motives. Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established.”

Proverbs 16:2-3 NASB

When you commit yourself to God and pray and grow stronger in the Word. Your plans will be established. Whatever giant you are facing doesn’t stand a chance when you are in covenant with God. There are some who say they tried the God thing, but the problem was you can’t play Christian and sinner at the same time. The snares of the world will entrap you if you are playing with sin. Playing with fire gets you burned. Commitment keeps your hand out of the fire.

Today let’s make a commitment in our heart that we are devoting ourselves 100% to Jesus and the cross that we take up in His name.
