Our Confidence

Proverbs 3:26 (AMP): For the Lord will be your confidence, firm and strong, And will keep your foot from being caught [in a trap].

Many of us place our confidence in our education, our looks, our position, our property, our gifts, talents, our abilities, our accomplishments, or in other people’s opinions. Here lies a trap of the enemy because through proverbs 3:26, our heavenly Father is basically saying to us, “No more; it is time to let go of all those fleshly things to which you have been holding so firmly so long, it is time to put your trust and confidence in Me, and Me alone!”

Hebrews 10:19 talks of our confidence before God; And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes us to come right into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm—boldly and with confidence.

Why do we lose confidence, start to doubt and search for answer in the opinion of others, then wonder why our footing is caught in a trap by choosing a path based on our own understanding and ability? I’ve come to understand my only sure foundation is for the Lord to be my steppingstone in life’s pathways.

Thank You Jesus, for shedding Your blood so that we can have full freedom and confidence to enter into God’s presence. Like little children we can be certain that we belong to God, for the One who is living in us is far greater than anything that is in the world.

We have the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, the favor of God, and Jesus Christ. Within us is the confidence and authority to overcome the culture of the world, to keep our foot from being caught in a trap.

Confidence and strength flood the hearts of the lovers of God who live in awe of him. But that’s not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance looking to God as the Way.
