Just Give Me Jesus
But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Matthew 19:14
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
We often quote the scripture to come to Jesus as a child, expressly regarding our faith. Their faith is pure and expectant. But I also believe that their discernment for the Holy Spirit is spot on also. Especially prior to their brains being filled with things of their world through television, adult influence and negativity. We often have such hard shells on our hearts and minds that we don’t stop to let HIM in.
The mornings are always busy as I am sure they are with any family. Everyone is tired, the adults are headed to work, kids to school and time is pushed to the limit. I am privileged to be able to take my grandchildren to school. One morning, during our busy commute, I huffed as I started down the drive way and my words were shorter than they should have been. I, as the adult, was creating an atmosphere of frustration and negativity. But God…Corbin (age 3) began to sing, “Just give me Jesus!” It immediately brought peace to the car. It was an atmosphere changer for me. Thank you Jesus for the soft hearts of our children. Let us always have their expectant faith and allowance for the move of the Holy Spirit!
The words to the song Corbin was singing goes like this:
Just give me Jesus, just give me Jesus
There’s nothing I desire, that can’t be found in You.
You’re everything that I’ve ever needed.
Just give me Jesus.
Take all my pride, my dreams, my plans. This house I’ve built, on troubled sand
If I gained the world, it would never be, it could never be enough.
Just give me Jesus!
Stop your busy day. Let God speak to your heart. Don’t rush through life and miss the little things, especially God’s blessings.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
