Don't Give Up

My husband Larry sowed grass seed in an area behind our Montana house. We watered it faithfully but the growth was spotty. Larry looked out the window at the lack of grass and commented, “Maybe we should just grow weeds back there, it would sure be easier.”

There are occasions when I feel the same way about my Christian life. I would enjoy taking life easy, and quit dealing with the struggles of life. I’d like to just let the weeds of pride, judgment and unforgiveness grow. But I’m not happy doing that either, as my real desire is to please Jesus.

I remember Apostle Paul had many times when circumstances were very discouraging and it wasn’t easy for him, either. He didn’t quit, but continued on planting the seed of God’s Word and following God’s direction for his life.

Doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest, but it brings the blessings.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV)
