Yes I get plenty of that! (Said no parent ever!) But can we make the most of our rest? I bet it is safe to say that most of us on a regular basis do not get good quality rest. We tend to take the troubles of the world and our lives with us as we sleep at night, causing our rest to really be restless. (Punn Intended) As we look throughout the Bible we see some instances that in their troubles and tough times, there are some major figures who were able to rest despite their worldly situation.
For example, Jesus sleeping in the boat during the storm. Peter sleeping between the prison guards so hard that the angel had to nudge him to wake him up, and so many more. How is your rest? Do you take the cares of the world to rest with you? If we do not get the rest we need, we will begin to give up things or take things out of our daily routine to find time to rest. Don’t allow your time with God or the quality of it fall short due to a lack of rest.
Matthew 11:28-30Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
