Living Righteous

“To do righteousness and justice is desired by the Lord more than sacrifice.” Proverbs 21:3

His Word is pretty clear that we are to live right and just when we are His children. In this verse notice the first two words are, “To do.” We have to make a choice to live righteous and just. In addition, both are action words. They are something we do and how we conduct ourselves.

Interestingly, this verse says they are more desired than sacrifice. Sacrifice is good and should be part of a believer’s life. However, sacrifice can be a one-time action and sometimes represents repentance. In contrast, living righteous and just is a way of life. When we live our lives this way, others will see Christ in us; see that we live different than the world when we are His children. Living your life righteous and just is your greatest testimony for the lost! And what are we ALL called to do as His children? Be witnesses and proclaim the “good news” of Jesus Christ!

Whenever we become children of God, the Lord does this amazing thing and causes the Holy Spirit to dwell within us! The Holy Spirit is who will help us to live righteously and justly. This is why it’s so important to have be baptized and have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit! He is our help. If you desire His power to help you live righteously and justly today, I encourage you to seek the Holy Spirit. Draw near to Him and He WILL draw near to you.
