What Is Love?

In the world today you see hate on the news, social media, and walking into a store. I began really searching for the true meaning of love because in the world today love has turned into what the Bible says love is not, jealous, boastful, proud, irritable, demanding its own way, and delighting in injustice. You see this false sense of love on the news and social media.
In 1 Corinthians 13, Love is patient, kind, rejoices when truth wins out, never gives up, never loses faith, always hopes, endures through every circumstance, and never fails. The word LOVE is used so loosely if you really look at the Biblical definition of Love. We as Christians must get better at showing the true definition of Love to others. The world is crumbling around us due to hate and we must take a stand. This does not mean get on social media and post about love or make a hashtag about love. We must clothe ourselves with the qualities of love so that we can show others. We can not only show love to those in our circle but those who are difficult to love. We are commanded to love others.
Matthew 22:36-40 New International Version (NIV)
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
