I recently was at a prayer group with Grambo and she said to pray for her generation. She said often times you get to an age that you don’t feel others are hearing or listening and that they have so much to bring to the table but feel like they are “leftovers” when it comes to the church and the new generations rising. After she had said this God said they are my “covered dishes” and it’s time to bring them to the table. I often find myself drawn to the elders for wisdom and strength and children for honesty and truthfulness. Truthfully I find myself lost in my generation with not many to turn to that I feel safe in. I know how to be a parent but even that I fail in and I yearn for those covered dishes to love on me and give me guidance not. I was not raised in church and I have hit a lot of stumbling blocks on my walk by walking blindly without a guardian to protect me. I know have quite a few mother’s and fathers in the faith and I pray the same for the generations around me. And I pray that I can be that wisdom for another generations. So today bring forth your “covered dishes” I am ready to feast and taste of the things that might have been lost had I not the ears to hear . Bring forth your apple pies, your fried chicken, your breads and things that your mothers and fathers have passed down to us. God is calling forth a feast and that means he is calling us to bring all our “covered dishes” to remove the lids and to smell and taste of Gods goodness.
“Your duty is to teach them to embrace a lifestyle that is consistent with sound doctrine. Lead the male elders into disciplined lives full of dignity and self-control. Urge them to have a solid faith, generous love, and patient endurance. Likewise with the female elders, lead them into lives free from gossip and drunkenness and to be teachers of beautiful things. This will enable them to teach the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, and to be self-controlled and pure, taking care of their household and being devoted to their husbands. By doing these things the word of God will not be discredited. Likewise, guide the younger men into living disciplined lives for Christ. Above all, set yourself apart as a model of a life nobly lived. With dignity, demonstrate integrity in all that you teach. Bring a clear, wholesome message that cannot be condemned, and then your critics will be embarrassed, with nothing bad to say about us.”
