Abundantly Blessed

July 24, 2020

“I’m getting rid of some fabric. Do you want it?” Wendy asked while we visited, during our shopping trip, at Cosco.

“Of course, I never refuse fabric. When do you want me to get it? I could come tomorrow.”

“I’ll be at work, but that will work great. I’ll sort it out, put it in bags, and lay them on the porch for you.”

I thought she’ll have a couple small bags of fabric to give me. Not so. When I arrived at her home, there were six large trash bags, full of various fabric.

I’m amazed at how God uses different people and circumstances to bless me with fabric and yarn. June, a friend from Montana, mailed me two boxes of fabric already cut into quilt squares.

Susan’s mother was cleaning out a storage unit and offered me the fabric. Isabelle, often gives me yarn. A lady, at a yarn sale, wanted to get rid of two bags of yarn for pennies on the dollar.  A local yarn store moved and sold yarn below wholesale prices. Leila shared several yards of corduroy fabric.

I enjoy making and giving to several ministries—small knitted teddy bears for children with AIDS in Africa, knitted sweaters for underprivileged children through World Vision, lap robes for nursing homes, baby quilts for pro-life centers, and comforters for missionaries to distribute on an Indian reservation.

The scripture in Luke 6:38 is certainly true for my life. The more I give to ministries, the more supplies I receive.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”  Luke 6:38 (KJV)
