A Call to Praise

“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart. Sing for joy in the Lord, you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.”

Psalm 32:11-Psalm 33:1-3

The above is a picture of what praise looks and sounds like for the righteous ones; for those who have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ. This is an example of how we come to the Lord with thanksgiving and praise. What matters first before singing or playing any note, is your heart. We are called to “be glad and rejoice” and this can only come from our heart of affection to the One who saved our soul, redeeming us for eternity, who reveals who He is in our everyday lives and through His precious Word, equipping us for His purpose for us in this sinful. God truly is our everything.

After we have set our heart of affection on Him, then we sing to Him and we play skillfully for Him and He considers this beautiful to hear the upright praising Him in this way. As we do this, we sing a new song having new awareness of God’s amazing grace in our lives. The revelation of who He is, is never ending which is why we can come to Him in praise and thanksgiving over and over again and never tire of giving thanks to Him. Take some time today doing what the Psalmist clearly instructs us to do as His righteous ones. He is so worthy.
