Aliens In This World

1 Peter 2:11-12 My divinely loved friends, since you are resident aliens and foreigners in this world, I appeal to you to divorce yourselves from the evil desires that wage war within you. Live honorable lives as you mix with unbelievers, even though they accuse you of being evildoers. For they will see your beautiful works and have a reason to glorify God in the day he visits us.

This letter was written to the believers who were enduring great persecution under the Roman Empire. Peter was encouraging them that in the face of great trial they live a life that testified about Jesus. A life they would bring God glory, defy the temptation of the culture they lived but retain a heavenly perspective. These believers knew that this world was not their home, and neither is it ours. Though we may go through persecutions and feel as an outsider in a lost world we are still called to reach that world through our lives.

We are not of this world and our actions need to point to our final destination. We have a mission to bring to heaven to earth, when heaven comes to earth people get saved. When heaven invades earth people get healed, lives get restored and the people who belong to heaven usher in the presence that draws all men unto Him, simply by living for Jesus. We are called to be a representative of Christ, to deny self, to send a message to the unbeliever that eternity is calling and we want to point them to Christ. Let our life share our perspective of eternity.

We are only passing through and the goal is to take as many people with us to our true heavenly home. Let your life point to heaven in a world that is lost and looking for direction.
