Am I Holding a Grudge Against Past Wrongs

One of the most important things we can do as a follower of Christ is to do a self-check and check our hearts. When we look back at wrongs or hurts, how do we feel? Do we feel anger, or do we treat the person differently? This is a very good sign that we are still harboring resentment. If we are holding a grudge this in time, will become bitterness. God in His love and mercy gives us instruction to remove all things that lead to bitterness. God tells us to forgive and put on love which is the bond of perfection. Will we encounter hurt? Yes, we will. Most of the time it comes from those who we love, even our church family. God knew we would face hurts and He speaks to us through His scripture to show us what to do when we face wrongs and hurts. He tells us to put on love and forgive just as we are forgiven.

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”

Colossians 3:12-14 NKJV
