Be a Firefighter

Jude 1:22-23 “Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.”

We recently had a difficult funeral that Pastor Will officiated of a young man who died of an overdose. Pastor Will shared that he made a promise to that young man to combat addiction with the gospel of Jesus Christ like never before. That promise was a challenge to our church body to be prepared to go forth and interrupt the enemies plans for destruction with the hope of salvation.

I’ve considered this verse in Jude and “snatching them out of the fire” has repeatedly been on my heart. There are so many lost souls in the fire who do not know how to avoid their date with destruction. But we as believers are the firefighters against the plans of hell and our Lord has shown us the way of escape. It’s time to hear the emergency signal to go forth and rescue. We serve a God who made a public spectacle over the enemy that He triumphed over. He is waiting with salvation, restoration and hope in his hands for our lost and dying world. Will you answer the alarm and reap the harvest of a ripe field desperate for deliverance?
