Be an Obadiah in a Jezebel World

Ahab had summoned Obadiah, his palace administrator. (Obadiah was a devout believer in the Lord. 4 While Jezebel was killing off the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water.)                                  1 Kings 18:3-4

When you read the Old Testament, it is evident that people in the king's position struggled to be faithful to God. Israel continued to fall to sin because the Kings worshiped false prophets. In 1 Kings 16, Ahab became king after his father Omri (he did evil in the Lord's eyes). Ahab continued to do evil and served Baal. Ahab married Jezebel, and she started killing the Lord's prophets. But God had placed Obadiah as Ahab's right-hand man to protect against Jezebel. Scripture tells us that Obadiah hid a hundred prophets and supplied them with food and water during a severe drought. Even though Obadiah was Ahab's right-hand man, he remained devoted to God. This scripture is an excellent reminder that we must not compromise even if the Jezebel spirit surrounds us. Obadiah was the source of protection to prophets during destruction. God can still use us even in the unknown if we stay devoted to him. In this world of the Jezebel spirit, be an Obadiah, do not compromise, and remain ready to be used by God as a source of protection to those around you.
